Welcome to Rookley Village Association website

Rookley is a village located on the A3020 in the central area of the Isle of Wight, an island off the south coast of England close to Southampton and Portsmouth. Made up of around 200 households and with a population of approximately 500 people, the village is surrounded by farmland and open countryside, some of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Rookley Village Association is a registered Charity and oversees, on behalf of the village residents, Rookley Village Hall and the Recreation & Sports Ground which are both in Highwood Lane on the northern edge of the village.

Opened in 2001 following extensive fundraising and a number of grants, including donations from 'Sport for All' and the Lottery Fund, the Hall is a bright modern premises complete with a large central area, a kitchen, separate shower areas and full disabled access and toilet, and meets official 'Hallmark 2' quality standards. Widely used throughout each day by local groups and organisations, it is also available to hire for meetings, parties and wedding receptions.

As well as a football pitch and a cricket wicket the Recreation and Sports Ground also has children's play equipment and a skate park. The Association is made up entirely of volunteers who organise a number of events throughout the year and 'Gardening Galore' in Spring and the traditional 'Village Show' in the Summer are now renowned throughout the island.

This website is for anyone who lives in Rookley, works in Rookley or has any interest in Rookley and the surrounding area. Please contact Tim (our webmaster) with suggestions and contributions.
